About
I am Managing Partner of Menzies LLP and chair of the firm’s Management Committee. This role encompasses working with my partners and the colleagues in the wider firm to shape and deliver our strategy.
The role is also ambassadorial within and outside of the firm. My appointment commenced in November 2021.
In addition to this I remain one of the firm’s specialist tax advisers to individuals and their businesses. I have done this now for over 35 years having acted as the lead tax adviser on numerous transactions, reorganisations and family wealth planning matters. I endeavour to understand the owners’ individual financial priorities and then structure their tax affairs to work towards achieving these.
I joined Menzies as a Tax Partner in 2003, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989 and as a Tax Practitioner in 1991. More than half of my professional life has been with this wonderful firm.
Personal
My first job
Serving meals in a Littlewoods café – it taught me a lot about deadlines and dealing with challenging situations and some of those customer is always right skills are still relevant today. My Accountancy journey started in 1986.
Alternative Career choice
All of my oldest friends will tell you that I wanted to become an Accountant from an early age. I still enjoy this profession and have never regretted the choice.
My favourite hobby
I love travel and am a keen skier having been hurling myself down mountains for over 30 years. Otherwise in years not affected by the pandemic I try to visit a new country every year; my (now adult) children always appreciated being dragged around a Castle or Cathedral in a new town!
