I am a Partner in the tax team based in our Heathrow office. I am a Chartered Accountant (1999) and Chartered Tax Advisor (2001) and have worked in tax since 2000, joining Menzies in late 2014.
I head up the Menzies Business Tax team and am part of our Property and Construction team with significant property sector experience.
I work with a wide range of clients, including both owner-managed businesses and large groups, including international groups. I have considerable experience advising clients in respect of UK tax and cross-border implications that arise and works with firms in our international network, HLB, to ensure that my client’s obligations are met and tax risks are reduced wherever possible.
With the ever growing complexity of the UK tax rules and anti-avoidance rules matters that I typically advise clients on are wide ranging. These include but are not limited to: advising on the most efficient structure/restructure of a business; helping clients expand overseas and the tax implications; tax-efficient profit extraction; identifying and maximising tax reliefs including for example group and loss reliefs, capital allowances, R&D, Patent Box; property, trade or share transactions; due diligence; shareholder reliefs; and rules such as the Corporate Interest Restriction, anti-hybrid rules and transfer pricing.
I also oversee the compliance services for a large portfolio of corporate clients, ensuring that their UK tax requirements and tax planning opportunities are identified.
Alternative career choice
I considered becoming a lawyer before deciding to mix my love of numbers with the legal aspects and become a tax advisor.
