Supporting a business through key staff transition

Following the announcement its Finance Manager was to leave, Saxlund International urgently needed help in the handover, transition and recruitment of a new Head of Finance. Menzies Advisory team were on hand to provide the necessary support, skills and reassurance to the Managing Director. Here’s how we did it.

Phil Wright - Menzies AccountantFollowing a meeting between Saxlund International’s MD and Menzies, we began an immediate period of handover. Over the next four weeks our team worked closely to ensure not only a smooth transition out of the business for the outgoing Finance Manager, but also provide the necessary short to medium term stability whilst recruitment requirements were drawn up.

Once the Finance Manager had departed, Menzies managed the finance department for two months and made sure group reporting requirements were met along whilst supporting the remaining team of three. Our team undertook periodic visits and were available for ongoing and responsive remote support.

Our Advisory team then proceeded to work collaboratively with the Managing Director to put together a role requirement based not only on our experiences of working in the client environment, but its culture and most significantly an understanding the best fit for skills. This #BrighterThinking insight helped shape the type of candidates we were looking for and gave a great dual perspective.

Menzies People Solutions and Advisory team then worked jointly in the recruitment process to ensure the right mix of soft and technical requirements were found. Once recruited Menzies Advisory provided a handover and support to the new Finance Manager through the year end and group audit process, which started on their first day in post!

After the successful completion of the audit, Menzies Advisory have continued to support the new Finance Manager installing new improvements to the monthly reporting package and providing recommendations to further improve company’s individual and consolidated cash flow forecasts.
