The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is a major step forward in transparency and accountability for businesses across the EU and UK. By requiring higher standards of sustainability reporting, it challenges companies to align with evolving environmental, social, and governance (ESG) expectations.
We provide tailored CSRD services to simplify compliance, enhance reporting accuracy, and help you highlight leadership in sustainability. With our expert guidance, you can confidently meet regulatory standards while building trust with stakeholders and demonstrating your ESG commitment.
What is CSRD?
The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is an EU regulatory framework requiring companies to report on their environmental and social impact, replacing the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD), to standardise and enhance sustainability reporting across more businesses. This regulation makes it easier to compare companies’ sustainability efforts and encourages greener business practices, supporting the EU’s net zero goal.
To ensure consistency, all companies covered by the CSRD must report using the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), which provide a standardised framework for disclosures.
CSRD Current Requirements:
Companies classed as large undertakings must report if they meet two or more of the following:
- Balance sheet total: Over €25 million
- Net turnover: Exceeds €50 million
- Employees: More than 250 on average (subject to potential revision to 1,000 employees in the future)
Listed SMEs and certain non-EU firms must also comply, with a phased rollout.
Although the CSRD is an EU regulation, UK companies, and those based outside the EU, must still comply if they meet one of three categories:
Category 1. They have securities listed on an EU-regulated market
Category 2. They conduct significant business in the EU (generating a net turnover of more than €150 million in the EU with at least one subsidiary or branch in the region), or
Category 3. They were previously subject to the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD).
To provide businesses with additional time for compliance, the CSRD reporting deadline has been extended to 2028 for certain companies.
Benefits of Complying with CSRD
Adhering to CSRD requirements doesn’t just help you avoid penalties; it provides a host of benefits that can set your business apart:

- Investor Confidence: Meet the growing demand for detailed ESG disclosures from investors.
