Never Stop Learning!

The accountancy world is constantly evolving. We must stay on top of economic affairs to help our clients navigate the ever-changing business landscape.

What is your Menzies story?

Having studied Economics at University. I was always interested in business and people. I decided I wanted to become a Chartered Accountant and applied for a job as a Menzies trainee at our Woking office.  Over the years I have worked at a number of Menzies locations, including a spell in our London and Woking offices. The chance to transfer locations around the Southeast, learn about different businesses and work with a cross section of people, picking up valuable lessons from the different colleagues you work with, has always been a valuable proposition at Menzies. I feel fortunate to have been able to benefit from that wealth of learning opportunities.

My role now is as much about people as it is about numbers. I really enjoy working with owner-managed enterprises, understanding what motivates and drives individuals and helping them to grow their businesses. As a Director at the Leatherhead, I love the variety of my work. I am in the Hospitality & Leisure sector team and in addition to client work, I am fortunate to also be involved with more strategic aspects of the Leatherhead office, including recruitment, marketing and training and development.

What do you do outside of working at Menzies?

Outside of work my hobbies include fitness and yoga. As a working mum, making time for this is important to me, as it helps me stay healthy and energised! Menzies understands the importance of work life balance and healthy habits and promotes learning and best practice in these areas through webinars, newsletters and the promotion of its Employee Assistance Programme throughout the year.

What do you love about working at Menzies?

I enjoy working at Menzies because no two days are the same and because of the great people I work with. We all work as a team to make a difference to our clients and wider society through volunteering and charitable activities.

Each year there is a ‘Make a difference week’ which provides opportunities to engage in charity and fundraising activities. Giving back to the community is something which we are passionate about as a Firm and this reflects the  culture and ethos, making it a great place to work.

I love the fact that I am continually learning and seeking solutions to challenging scenarios and individual circumstances. It definitely keeps things interesting!
