About
I am a Partner at Menzies and sit within the Forensic and Valuation Services team. I earned my degree in mathematics from St John’s College, Oxford, and qualified as a Charted Accountant (ICAEW) with a city firm, training in audit. I transitioned to forensic accounting in 2005, first at Deloitte and latterly at AlixPartners. I joined Menzies in 2024.
I specialise in the financial and quantum aspects of disputes with a focus on providing advice, independent expert evidence and expert testimony in commercial litigation and international arbitration matters. With almost 20 years of experience in forensic accounting and valuation, I help clients by providing advice throughout the litigation and arbitration process. This can be at the early stages when claims are being contemplated, working with clients and counsel to consider how losses might be assessed and the information and evidence that may be required. Or it can be at the later stages, preparing detailed and robust assessments of loss, providing reports setting out my expert opinion, and presenting expert evidence for Court or Arbitral proceedings.
Maintaining a broad practice is important to me: it keeps me thinking and keeps our team on their toes. And it helps me to help clients in whatever disputes they are facing. My caseload varies between assessing loss of profits under breaches of contract, assessing diminution in value under breaches of warranty, and assessing loss in value in lost opportunity and expropriation cases, and anything in between. Whilst my cases sit across a range of industries and sectors, I have a particular interest in technology and in intellectual property disputes, including the valuation of IP rights in contentious matters, losses arising from infringements of IP rights, and issues around reporting and calculations of royalties by licensees. My practice also includes transaction related disputes, including advising clients on disputes around earn-outs and completion accounts, and I take on appointments as the Determining Expert for accounting and valuation issues under sale and purchase agreements.
If it’s the “numbers bit” of disputes you need help with, I’d be delighted to talk through the issues with you.
