Rich Singleton | Finance & Sustainability Director
My journey from Audit Trainee to Finance Director to ESG Consultant
What is your Menzies story?
I am the Finance & Sustainability Director at Menzies looking after the internal finance department and am part of Menzies’ strategic advisory division. I started at Menzies in 2011 as a graduate in our Farnborough office spending more than five years there, qualifying in ACA and working my way up to Audit Manager.
An opportunity presented itself to move to our internal finance team in 2017, and I have been the Firm’s FD for more than three years. Just this year, I have transitioned into a hybrid role, now focusing on ESG consulting for clients and heading up our ESG service offering. Added to my busy day job has been lots of networking and socialising which has been great fun.
How has your role changed throughout your time at Menzies?
My story is unusual in that not only have I moved between office, but I have changed between a client facing and operational role – and now I have moved back to having a degree of client contact. I have followed my instincts and chose not to stay in a role that I was no longer enjoying and Menzies has also afforded me the tools and backing to go and start a new service offering that sits within my area of passion/ interest, trusting me to manage my time to achieve both internal and client-facing objectives.
What do you love about working at Menzies?
Menzies has always given me the support to go and achieve my personal aims. I have had plenty of opportunities to leave but Menzies provides a brilliant environment to thrive, and I have always chosen to stay.
For me it is all about the people. Family comes first and Menzies allows flexibility to ensure I don’t miss important things in the lives of my children. I feel the tangible support network around me daily with Menzies being more like an extended family that ensures that I take care of myself and my wellbeing, and that I feel comfortable to take quality time off to holiday and relax
