BRIGHTER THINKING LEADS TO ANOTHER TRI AWARD WIN FOR OUR BUSINESS RECOVERY TEAM!
Menzies are delighted to have collected an award at the 2021 Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) Awards for Corporate Rescue of the Year (Medium) for our rescue of Shoreham Airport (also known as Brighton City Airport).
Having run successfully for over 100 years, Shoreham Airport is one of the oldest commercial airports in the world with over 50,000 aircraft movements annually. The site extends 242 acres and comprises three runways and a portfolio of property. When the estate ran into financial difficulties, Menzies were appointed as Administrators and have since worked diligently to add value to the estate by re-gearing ground leases, gaining consent for 25,000 sq m of commercial development potential, and working with the developer of New Monks Farm and the Environment Agency to invest in local infrastructure.
Simon Underwood, Menzies Business Recovery Partner, commented:
“We are delighted to have won the Corporate Rescue of the Year (Medium) Award at the 2021 TRI Awards for the rescue of Shoreham Airport. The case team have worked tirelessly to transform the prospects of this estate and to complete the sale in such difficult market conditions. We are thrilled that our efforts have been recognised by the insolvency profession.”
