Menzies is proud to partner with the 2016 EEF Future Manufacturing awards in search for Britain’s best manufacturer.

EEF kick starts this year’s hunt to find the best of British manufacturing – including the sectors unsung manufacturing heroes and most outstanding apprentices.

The EEF Future Manufacturing awards are free, easy to enter and give apprentices, manufacturers and supply chain businesses of all sizes from across the UK the chance to shine.

EEF Future Manufacturing Awards categories

There are eight award categories that companies can apply for. These include:

  • Business Growth Award
  • Developing People Award
  • Environmental Achievement Award
  • Export Award
  • Health and Safety Award
  • Leadership Award
  • Innovation Award
  • Partnerships Award

The awards also celebrate the brilliant work being done by manufacturing apprentices across the UK, and are now aligned to the Intermediate, Advanced and Higher pathways. Companies are being urged to put forward their best and brightest apprentices and help promote the wealth of high quality opportunities available to young people in industry today. The awards will also recognise the achievements of apprentices working in other important roles in manufacturing, such as marketing, procurement and finance. A new Business Apprentice Award has been launched to showcase the significant contribution they make to their employers’ business activities.

Menzies – supporting the manufacturing sector

Menzies advise a diverse range of manufacturers, as well as a number of sector-dependent clients. We work closely to find solutions to industry issues, utilising our expertise in everything from business strategy and corporate finance, to audit and tax advice.

“We spend time really getting to know our clients and as such we are able to identify #BrighterThinking opportunities to help them to drive their business forward and save money. With one manufacturing client, it became apparent that although their technical know-how was run of the mill for them, what they were doing was truly innovative research and development. Having never previously made a tax relief claim under the R&D rules, we were able to eliminate the tax liability for the current and previous years, obtaining a tax refund of almost £50,000.”

    Counting down to the EEF Awards

    All award entries will be judged regionally, with the regional winners then going on to compete for a national award. One manufacturer will go on to be crowned EEF’s prestigious ‘Winner of Winners’.

    Dave Belmont, Company Secretary, Acorn Stairlifts, national Winner of Winners 2015 said;

    “For Acorn, as a manufacturer supplying goods direct to consumers, the boost to our business from winning these awards has been significant. For a manufacturer which supplies its products directly to other manufacturers, the benefits could be incredible.”

    Terry Scuoler, CEO of EEF, said;

    “A strong manufacturing sector is the cornerstone of the economy, providing much-needed jobs and prosperity in every region of the UK. This takes dedication, dynamism and hard work. Despite these attributes, and many more, our sector is full of unsung heroes who do not get the recognition they deserve. These awards go some way towards addressing this and ensure their success and contribution are celebrated.”

    The closing date for entries is 29th July 2016. To enter or to find out more visit www.eef.org.uk/awards
