The term “contentious valuation” refers to valuations which are performed in the context of a dispute or other contentious situations.
These may include valuations performed for:
- Post M&A disputes, especially relating to breach of warranty and/or misrepresentations
- Shareholder disputes
- Unfair prejudice petitions
- Claims where there is a loss of value, such as expropriation claims
- Intellectual property disputes and infringement claims
- Matrimonial disputes, especially concerning the value of business interests and access to liquidity
